The 2nd Annual Lansing Community Research Day was very successful thanks to the wonderful participation of the medical students, residents, fellows and faculty of the Lansing Community. Almost 50 research projects were presented and approximately 100 people were in attendance including medical students, residents, fellows and faculty from a wide variety of specialties. The featured key note speaker, Dr. Phil Fontanarosa, MD, MPH, Executive Deputy Editor, Journal of the American Medical Association, spoke to the audience about research related guidelines and protocol to follow when submitting research for publication. Awards were presented to the top medical student oral and poster presenters, top case study report, 1st and 2nd oral presentations and top poster presentation.
We would like to thank the Planning Committee members for their efforts. The Planning Committee includes representatives from MSU College of Human Medicine (Clare Luz, Lyn Farquhar), MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine (Robert Brady), Sparrow Health System (Tom Drabek), and Ingham Regional Medical Center (Sheri Clarke). We also want to thank the faculty and staff who volunteered to help the day of the event – Bill Strampel, DO (MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine); Leslee Wilkins (Institute for Health Care Studies); Geoff Linz, MD, Sheri Clarke, Karen Jury, and Brenda Pearson (Ingham Regional Medical Center); Bill Gifford and Jodi Graeber (Sparrow Health System); and, Jeff Dwyer and Deana Haner (MSU College of Human Medicine).
